When I was in my late twenties (1983) I felt bored with my day-job and dreamed of becoming a writer. I even wanted to make it hard on myself by writing it in English (after a brief experiment with Esperanto), although my native language is Dutch and I am not bilingual.

I thought if Conrad and Nabokov could do it (I never even read any of their books, by the way), and Dutch writer G.K. van het Reve (“The Acrobat and Other Stories”) could, so could I.
The fact is: I never did, I somehow never found the time and concentration to finish it.

So I decided to put those 4 chapters, of varying size, that I did write over all those years on the web as a curio.

Well, this is it, basically, the start of the beginning.
